Multispectral Analysis by Drone

Aerial crop analysis: we see what the eye cannot — and deliver application, fertilization and seeding maps for site-specific field work.

What is it about?

The principle

Our multispectral drone captures imagery in wavelengths the human eye cannot perceive. The result: vigor maps of your crop that show where plants are thriving and where disease, pest pressure or nutrient deficiencies are emerging — long before damage becomes visible.

The challenge

Why traditional methods hit their limits

Late detection

Diseases and pest infestations are often only noticed once the damage has already been done.

Blanket management

Without a data basis, fertilizer, water and crop protection are applied uniformly instead of where they are needed.

Rising costs

Over-application wastes money and puts a strain on soil and groundwater.

How it works

Our approach

Survey flight

The multispectral drone maps your field in a GPS-planned grid.

Analysis

We calculate vegetation indices such as NDVI (vigor) and NDRE (nitrogen status).

Actionable recommendations

You receive ready-to-use maps and concrete recommendations — no raw data left for you to deal with.

Your benefits

What's in it for you

Service area: Lake Constance region, Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria, Southern Germany and Switzerland — further afield on request. Flight planning, airspace clearances and application documentation are handled by our certified drone pilots.

Maps & analyses

What you receive from us

Application maps

Prescription and seeding maps for site-specific fertilization and variable rate seeding — compatible with common farm management systems.

Nitrogen demand & biomass

NDRE-based assessment of nitrogen demand and biomass determination for fertilization planning.

Damage assessment

Document hail damage, wildlife damage and gaps in the crop — reliable evidence for insurers and your farm records.

Field monitoring & weed detection

Regular survey flights reveal crop development, weed patches and yield forecasts.

In practice

Worked example: finding drains on 20 hectares

A farm in the Hegau has wet spots in the field and no longer has a plan of the old drainage. In the dry late summer we fly 20 hectares multispectral at 1.0 cm resolution; the drain lines show up as lines in the image, the blockage is visible as a patch.

Frequently asked questions

What farms ask us beforehand

What is the difference between NDVI and NDRE?

NDVI shows vitality and biomass, NDRE the nitrogen supply, even in dense crops where NDVI is already saturated. For fertilizer decisions from stem elongation onwards we therefore use NDRE.

Which resolution do I need?

0.4 to 0.5 cm per pixel for individual plants and fine weed detection, 1.0 to 1.5 cm for zones, nutrient demand and overview. The finer, the longer we fly and the more data there is. We recommend as fine as necessary.

In which format do I receive the maps?

As orthophoto and index maps for viewing, plus application maps as shapefile or ISO-XML for your terminal and farm management system. On request we fly the map directly with the agricultural drone.

How often should I have a flight done?

For fertilizer decisions once or twice in spring, for damage documentation straight after the event, for drainage and soil structures once on dry soil in summer.

Can you also find drains and bark beetles?

Yes. Drains and underground structures show up in the multispectral image in dry conditions; bark beetle infestation in the forest we detect by the loss of vitality of individual crowns before the needles turn brown.

Region

Where we fly

We fly mapping across the whole Lake Constance region, in Upper Swabia, the Allgäu and eastern Switzerland, for arable farming, fruit and wine growing, municipalities and forestry. Travel is cheaper for mapping than for application because only the light drone comes along, so it pays off for single fields too.
